DESCRATED MIDDLE GROUND
September 2025
Since 2023,(1) North Carolina Republican legislators have effortlessly defeated the Governor’s vetos, but lost their veto-proof supermajority in the 2024 election cycle. Down by a single House seat, the GOP can still push through legislation but now face challenges from freshly elected Democrat Governor Stein. Whilst on the campaign trail, Josh Stein portrayed himself as a reasonable moderate — except that his first vetos expose his true alignment with the Democratic Party’s radical agenda.
Governor Stein campaigned on safe communities but rejected S153, a bill that mandates state cooperation with ICE, because the bill supposedly forces North Carolina police to “act as federal law enforcement.”(2) He reportedly wants to eliminate “hate and bigotry”(3) in the workplace yet vetoed legislation that eliminates Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (an inherently discriminatory practice that favors specific appearances and beliefs) from the state, local, (4) and public(5) education(6) levels. Governor Stein supported H805,(7) which protects women and children from online predation, until the act was amended to include a prohibition on gender-affirming birth certificate alterations, permit parental access to school library materials, and restrict biological males from girls’ bedrooms — incredibly, the Governor claims these amendments “target vulnerable people.”(8)
The Republicans can still easily override Governor Stein’s vetos in the Senate but must persuade at least one Democrat to vote with them in the House. Most Democrats still firmly stand with the progressive Party line, but a few side with Republicans out of their own convictions. For example, Representative Cunningham, in regard to H318, is concerned that some migrants “refuse to adapt”(9) to the United States’ laws. Representative Majeed voted to override the Governor’s veto of H805 to stay consistent with his own “moral issues.”(10)
In response to these perceived defections, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton demands House Democrats “hold firm on our values"(11) — radical, revisionist values that strive to undermine America’s core.
Members of the Democratic Party will censor and cancel anyone they don’t like and can't control. They want illegal immigrants for menial labor and so Democrats can redraw the voting districts(12) in their own favors. “My Body My Choice”(13) is the Democratic creed until they force the average American to take experimental vaccines before they can rejoin society. Those who claim “#MeToo”(14) are infallible unless the accused assaulter is a prominent Democrat(15). The Democratic Party believes people need(16) a college degree(17) to know the difference(18) between men and women (and sometimes not even then)(19), and encourages riots(20) in the streets. They lever the courts of public opinion and law to avoid(21) punishment for crimes that land anyone else in prison.(22)
Governor Stein portrays himself as a moderate but is anything but; He believes interviewees must affirm someone else’s mental state and feelings as a condition of employment(23) and that women’s rights don’t include being fully informed about abortion procedures or alternative options.(24) As North Carolina’s Attorney General, he sowed civil distrust in calling for North Carolinians to turn in family, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, or strangers who visited Washington, DC on January 6.(25)
By all appearances, Governor Stein and most North Carolina House Democrats are fully aligned with their Party’s goal to burn traditional values to the ground. If they cannot define a woman, then what stops them from violating her privacy and dignity? Remove parental access to schools and they can teach your children to hate their country, family, you, and themselves. What are truth or morals when they can contrive them on a whim and make your own sincerely held beliefs irrelevant, offensive, and punishable by law?
It’s clear where the Democratic Party will take North Carolina if they regain control of her legislature.
North Carolinians need to thank the elected representatives fighting for traditional values, yet also need to hold their legislators accountable and oppose false, double-faced agendas that undermine truth and morality. Do not take what lawmakers say at face value; always research their actions! Well-informed North Carolinians must stand in the gap against what crusades to reduce traditional values to the desecrated ashes of yesteryear.
